Obituary of John VandeMeent
Gone to Heaven far too soon, John passed peacefully at home, at the age of 58, surrounded by his sweetheart, his sons, and his sisters.
He is survived by Diane, his beloved wife of 32 years, and his cherished sons, Jeffrey and Daniel. He leaves behind his adoring four sisters Rita (Tony Klompmaker), Wilma (Dave St. Amand), Carol (the late John Slater), Deb (John Wakaluk), his mother-in-law, Johanna Oosterhof and in-laws, Leo (Susan), Henry (Evelina), Alex (Julie), Gary (Corina), Annette (Rob Schreuders), Paul (Wilma). Predeceased by his parents Gerrit and Janneke VandeMeent. He will be fondly remembered and missed by over 50 nieces, nephews, many friends and church community.
He loved his family, appreciated his supportive and special friends, enjoyed his work and travel, was an excellent cook and was a dedicated fan to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was always kind, and his sense of humour and quiet manner will be missed.
Visitation will held at REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 130 Scugog St. Bowmanville, on Friday October 27, 2017 from 2- 4 & 6-8 pm. A Service to Celebrate John’s life will be held at REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 11am. Private Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Knox Christian School or Gate 3:16. Arrangements entrusted to NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville.
