Life Legacy
BUCKNER, John Roy – Passed away peacefully at his residence in Niagara Falls at the age of 75 on November 28, 2017. John was the only child of the late John (Jack) Buckner and Bernice Marie Roy. He leaves to mourn several cousins, his Church family, and many friends. John was well known throughout Niagara Falls, and attended every public event, and many City Council Meetings. He was often referred to as the “Mayor of Silvertown.” He was a proud member of Toastmasters Canada. John greeted every passer-by on the streets, tipped his hat to everyone, and brought much joy and humour to the bus drivers and passengers on the city buses. He was very knowledgeable of the history of Niagara Falls. He was a gentleman through and through. Once John met you, he never forgot your name. He always had a story to share or an interesting piece of history. Being a man of deep faith, he was a faithful parishioner and dedicated Lector at St. Patrick Church, where he will be deeply missed. He also had many friends at St. Andrew’s United Church, where he would often sing in the choir. Visitation will take place at ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 4673 Victoria Avenue on Monday, December 11, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 7:00 PM. A private Interment will take place later. In memory of Mr. Buckner, donations to the Carmelite Missions or St. Patrick Church Breakfast Program would be appreciated. (Arrangements entrusted to Pattersons Funeral Home.) Sleep in heavenly peace!
