John passed away peacefully September 29, 2017 with his family by his side, after a long fiercely fought battle with cancer. John was born October 22, 1937 in Oliver, B.C. into a pioneering orchardist family. He is survived by wife, Karen; daughter, Jennifer Stuart (Doug); son, Michael (Wendy); five much loved grandchildren; sister, Lorna Mays and an extended loving family. John graduated in Geology from U.B.C. in 1965. Based in Vancouver, his profession took him throughout BC, YT, NWT’s as well as explorations in AK, AZ and Mexico. The family would like to thank Dr. G. Sayad, Dr. M. Szeto and Dr. S. Rossi for their care and support.
A Tea of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1pm – 3pm at the Recreation Centre, 4318 Emily Carr Drive in Victoria, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in memory of John to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at below.
