HARBER, John “Jack” Edward
On Monday May 1, 2017, John “Jack” Edward Harber passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family to be reunited with his wife of 56 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Beatrice Harber. Jack grew up in Midland, where he met the love of his life Dottie and they went on to settle their life in Burlington. Jack is predeceased by his parents, siblings; Margaret Harber, William Harber, Marie Baker, and Lloyd Harber, and three infant children; Joey, and twins John, and Mary. Loving and caring father, Jack is survived by his three children, Bill (Karen) Harber, John Harber, and Mary Asselstine. He will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren and their families, Terilyn, Trisha (Joey), Turner, Melanie (Bryan), Jacqueline, Leslie, Rebecca, Jennifer, Sarah, and great granddaughter Aynslee. Jack was also loved by his many nieces and nephews. Always the life of the party, Jack was a travelling salesman and worked for the John Forsythe Company. Jack belonged to the Huron Corp of the Sea Cadets, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, heavily involved with the CPSA, and actively involved in the St. Raphael’s church community. A visitation at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington (905-632-3333) will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of Jack’s life and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, 4072 New St, Burlington on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 10am. Jack’s family extends their warmest gratitude to Dr. Tim Salter for his dedication and kindness over the years, and the outstanding care provided by the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Peter’s Palliative Care Unit in Hamilton, or the Martyr’s Shrine in Midland would be greatly appreciated by the family.
