Obituary for John “Don” Donald Moynagh
MOYNAGH, John Donald (Don) May 10, 1950 – May 3, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don in his home on May 3, 2017 in Calgary, AB. Don will be fondly remembered for his generosity, honesty, and optimistic attitude. He possessed a wonderful voice and a great sense of humour, marked by an infectious laugh. He loved to travel and was able to explore the world while working many years for Eaton’s Travel and Air Canada and for the last 17 years at Enmax Corporation. Don was born May 10, 1950 in Montreal, QC to parents Hilary and Doris. He spent many happy summers visiting grandparents and cousins in Emerald, PEI. He relocated to Calgary in 1987 and became a true westerner. Predeceased by his father, John Hilary and nephew, Gregg, Don is survived by his mother Doris and his sisters, Maureen, Marilyn (David) and brothers, David (Kerry) and Paul (Ruth). He will be sadly missed by his nephew Jeffery and niece Meagan. Don is also survived by his second “western” family; his aunt Terry and uncle Ab Smith; cousins Debbie (Lee), Wayne (Nancy), Kim, Brian (Sandy), Greg (Teresa), Kari (Garth) and their families. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at Evan Strong Funeral Services (5502 – 2 St. SW) on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 3:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory can be made to Covenant House, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
