John Calvin Manning
1934-2017
The death of
John Manning of Saint John, beloved husband and friend of Catherine
(Sullivan) Manning occurred on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Saint John
Regional Hospital. Born on February 13, 1934 in Montreal, he
was the son of the late Clinton and Rita (Butler) Manning.
John
graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce
Degree. He started his working career at Touche Ross as a
Chartered Accountant and retired as a loyal employee of Irving Oil at
the age of 75. For many years, John was a member and
Treasurer of the Y’s Men and also belonged to the Westfield
Golf and Country Club and the Martinon Yacht Club. He always
took great comfort in his faith and was an active member of the Church
of Saint Andrew and Saint David, where he held positons of Elder,
Steward, Treasurer and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed
curling, golfing, sailing, puttering in the garden; as well as
swimming, camping and most recently the many trips and cruises with
Catherine.
In addition
to his wife of 59 years, Catherine, John is survived by their
children, David Manning (Darlene) of Waverley, NS, Judy
O’Neill (Walter Colwell) of Saint John and Margot Craft of
Kingston, ON; sister, Elizabeth Manning of Richmond, QC;
grandchildren, Cassandra, Gillian, Laurel, Clinton, Brendan, Eilish,
Calvin and Johnathan; precious great-grandson, Beckett; as well as
several nieces, nephews, cousins and son-in-law, Scott.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Peter
Manning.
Arrangements
are under the care and direction of Brenan’s
Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424)
with visiting on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
The funeral service will be held from the Church of Saint Andrew and
Saint David, 164 Germain Street, Saint John on Saturday, May 27, 2017
at 11:00 AM. A private interment will take place in Ocean
View Memorial Gardens.

wish, remembrances may be made to the Church of Saint Andrew and Saint
David, Canadian Mental Health Association of NB (SJ Chapter) or a
charity of the donor’s
choice.
