On March 1, 2017, John Otto Birks of Sherwood Park passed away at the age of 99 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Carolyn (Wayne) Huddleston, Rosie (Dennis) Kowalchuk, Philip (Cathie) Wilson-Birks, Wendy Birks and Eileen Birks (Stelio); grandchildren, Carla (Trent) Smith, Sarah (Wes) Straub, Stephen Kowalchuk (Brandy), Karlee Wilson-Birks, Matthew Wilson-Birks (Ayla) and Braden Wilson-Birks (Tess); great-grandchildren, Owen, Ethan and Elliot; and sister, Danielle Perron and family.
John was predeceased by his wife, Pela Birks; and sister, Edith Forrest.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at Capital Care Strathcona for their compassionate care.
Donations in memory of John may be made to the CapitalCare Strathcona-Heritage House.
