Obituary for John Shepherd (WWII)
John Alexander Shepherd of Kincardine, passed away with family by his side, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine on Friday, August 11th, 2017, in his 93rd year.
Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Shepherd (née Remy) who predeceased him on April 17th, 2011.
Loving father of Dianne Van derWal (Bill) of Abbotsford, B.C., Barbara Knott (Denny) of Lucan, Karen Winter of Gananoque, Bonnie Kraemer (Larry) of R. R. #2 Kincardine, Garry Shepherd of R. R. #1 Kincardine, Bev Shepherd of R. R. #2 Kincardine and Ruth Robbins-Wall (Andrew Wall) of Cambridge.
Sadly missed by his 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his son Morley Shepherd, parents Edward and Minnie (née Falconer) Shepherd, brothers Edward, Roger, Bill and George and sisters Myrtle Banter, Mary Rose, Charity Lewis and Cora Oak. John was the last surviving member of his family.
Visitation is at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., where the funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Monday, August 14th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating.
Royal Canadian Legion- Branch 183 Memorial Service at 12 noon.
Interment Kincardine Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Kincardine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
