1927-2017
With heavy hearts, the family of John A. Colwell announce his
passing at home on January 15, 2017. Born November 9, 1927 in Minto,
NB, he was a son of the late John and Eva (Grant) Colwell. John was
married to Wanda (Thomas) Colwell for 66 years. He worked at the
Willet Fruit Company for 26 years and then became owner and operator
of Thomas Construction. He devoted his life to his family; he was very
involved with his children and grandchildren. He loved hockey, car
racing, and horses.
In addition to his loving wife, Wanda, John is survived by
his children: Debbie Maillet (Ken) and John (Krista); grandchildren:
Matthew (Julia), Lauren (Joe), Haley, and Nicholas;
great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Alex; his sister: Helena Madore; and
several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by
his sisters: Yvonne Cassie and Vera Ellis.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on
Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held
on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2 pm from Brenan’s Funeral
Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances
to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by
