Obituary of Johannes Scholtes
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Johannes “John” Antonius Scholtes at Strathmere Lodge in Strathroy on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in his 91st year. Loving husband of Christina Scholtes (nee Vander Ende) for 67 years. Beloved father of Jane (Bruce) McDonald, Cathy (Dave) Orr, Rob (Cheryl) Scholtes and the late John H. Scholtes (1985). Dear grandfather of Scott (Myra), Sarah (Chris), Rob (Kim), Chrissy, Tom (Cindy), Dave (Jennifer), Amanda (Daniel), Don, Theresia (Alex), Peter, Adriana and Christina and 8 great grandchildren. Survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Vander Ende, Valerie Scholtes, Wil Vander Ende and many nieces and nephews in Canada, Holland and Australia. John and Christine immigrated to Canada in 1950 to a farm in Byron. John then worked for over 50 years in the insurance industry throughout SW Ontario. He was active in the Cursillo Movement and COR for many years and active in minor hockey and local organizations. Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023 on Sunday, December 10th from 2-4 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Strathroy on Monday, December 11th at 11:00 am with Fr. Thomas Blondin officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Strathmere Lodge Auxiliary or to All Saints Catholic Church. Online condolences accepted at www.denning.ca.
