Obituary of Joan Howell
Passed peacefully away at the Lion’s Manor, Placentia on Thursday, November 16, 2017, Joan Howell of Freshwater, Carbonear, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband: Calvin; parents: Arch and Mabel King; daughter-in-law: Lorraine Howell; sons-in-law: Martin Gillard and Douglas Tulk; sister: Olive Ryan; brother: Cyril King; sister-in-law: Mae (Jack) Monk. Leaving to mourn, three daughters: Beverly (Norman) Yetman, Bryant’s Cove, Bonnie (Irving) Rumbolt, Cull’s Harbour, and Sandra Tulk (Jim Kelly), York Harbour; son: Carl, Freshwater; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Thomas (Doris) King and Douglas (Rosalind) King; five sisters: Violet (Selby) Wheadon, Jennie (Glen, deceased) Garlick and Judy (Lindsay, deceased) Lawlor, Joyce (John) Reelis, Mabel Murphy and Carl Murphy; sister-in-law: Vera King; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Saturday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.; 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Monday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church and Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Freshwater United Cemetery Fund, c/o Ted Butt, Box 113, RR1, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1C6.
