79, Halifax, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Northwood
Manor, with family by her side. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of
the late Russell and Lucy (Dunn) Oickle.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Paul)
Brown, Mount Uniacke, Darlene (Albert) Landry, Penhold, AB, Diane
(David) Labonté, Haneytown, NB, Deborah Mead, Halifax; son,
George (Lynette) Mead, Kingston, NS; grandchildren, Michael (JoAnna)
Brown, Dawn (Jeff) Wright, Ashley Brooker, Christopher (Krista) Brown,
Desireé (Bradley) Houston, Dustin (Laura)
Labonté, Adam Smith, Katelyn and James Mead; 5 great
grandchildren; sisters, Helen O’Hearn, Jean (Steve) Warner
and Beverley Crowell. Joan was predeceased by her husband, George;
son, Shawn; brothers, Joe and Russell; sister, Mary Fleet and son
in-law, Donnie Smith.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert
Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where
visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12 from 7-9 PM. Funeral
service will be held on Friday, October 13 at 11am in the funeral home
chapel. Private interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s
memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society.
