JOAN ELIZABETH TRAVERS RN – July 21, 1925 – August 13, 2017

After a full and happy life, Joan passed away peacefully at home in Victoria, at the age of 92. She was born in Whitelaw, Alberta and came to Victoria with her parents to attend the nursing school where she graduated from Royal Jubilee Hospital in 1947 and soon after married her special love, Edward (Ed) Travers.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband after 56 years of marriage, as well as her brother, Robert, and sister, Mary.
Joan was a devoted mother of twins and is survived by her son, James Edward of Victoria and predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Joan (2011).
She is survived by sister Margaret Curtis of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, sister-in-law Janet (Robert) Broadhurst of Ladysmith and brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Travers of Duncan. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
Joan will be sadly missed by life long nursing friends Elizabeth (Betty) Whitlock and Yrsa Bye of Victoria.
Joan will also be fondly remembered by friend Charlene Kerr for her curt comments and wonderful sense of humour; lovingly remembered by dear friend and companion, Heather Clarry.
Special thanks to Myrtle Blackman of Sidney for her devotion and care during these past few weeks.
By request, no service will take place. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
