1943 – 2017
Joan Elizabeth Giesbrecht passed peacefully on December 8 after battling cancer. She was born to Darwin and Elizabeth on August 21, 1943 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan. She was loved and is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ted Giesbrecht; her sons William Dean (Denise) and Jeffrey Darwin (Rosann); three granddaughters whom she adored, Vanessa (Matthew), Julia and Alexandria; and six siblings Carol Andrews (Jim), Bill Reid (Raylene), Linda Smith (Elwood), Nancy Reid, Lesley Parkin, Jackie Laurans (Kelly). A nurse, quilter, member of the church choir and curler, she will be greatly missed by her family and the Kimberley, BC community, which was her home since 1995.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Kimberley United Church on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Govan, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
