Obituary Overview
Mrs. Joan Dennison
Dennison: Joan Taylor
Aunt Joan was born April 8th, 1923 in southern England. She immigrated to Canada where she served as a loving caregiver to elderly clients. In 1961, she married Harold Dennison of Kemptville, Ontario where they had a farm with Black Angus cattle. We would find our spunky and stylish Aunt Joan helping bring in the hay while wearing high-heeled shoes with her jeans. She also had beautiful flower gardens in front of their lovely stone home. Joan, Harold and his younger brother Douglas were a team and worked well together. When Harold passed away in 1985, Joan and Douglas remained good friends. The friendship blossomed into love and they married in 1993. They had happy years filled with travel until Douglas had a terminal illness. By then, Joan had Alzheimer’s and lived out her final years with loving care at Granite Ridge Care Community. Special thanks to the staff at Granite Ridge and to Mandy Samuelson who brought sunshine into her life as her visiting companion.
Joan will be missed by her sisters-in-law Jean Brooks of Manotick, Muriel Gleason of Toronto, and Audrey Bradley of Ottawa as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Auntie, and neighbors in Kemptville.
There will be a reception of remembrance at 11am on Monday, November 6th at
Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery,
3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa.
Private family interment.
