MacKay, Jeffrey Scott
August 1, 1989 – November 25, 2017
Dan and Jody MacKay deeply regret to announce the loss of their son Jeffrey Scott MacKay, aged 28. Jeff’s life was motivated by music and people. He was a talented musician and composer, and was never long without a guitar in his hands. He was also starting a new path in life, training for a career in Safety at SAIT. Jeff’s family and friends meant the world to him. Jeff was full of love, compassion and generosity.
He will be forever remembered as a loyal and caring friend who would always have time to listen, give kind advice, a goofy joke, a hug, offer a place to lay your head, or nourishment for your body and soul. Most of all, he wanted to make everyone as happy and full of life as he was.
Jeff will be missed by his parents, Dan and Jody; brother, Stewart; grandfather, Vernon MacKay; grandmother, Marian Symington; aunt, Susan MacKay; uncles, Lewis (Anne) MacKay, Robert MacKay, and uncle Blake LeBlanc; first cousins, Lewis and Ross Fairgrieve-Park, Kara, Maddy and Max MacKay, and Lindsay and Tyler LeBlanc; and of course, he will be greatly missed by his legion of friends and fellow musicians.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be led by the Reverend Bruce Sheasby at the Delta Calgary South Hotel (Kananaskis Room), 135 Southland Drive SE, Calgary, AB on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:30 pm. Doors will open at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Dan and Jody suggest a donation in Jeff’s memory to community support organizations such as The Mustard Seed, The Food Bank, or The Salvation Army. This is in keeping with the spirit of what Jeff had always done for his friends; helping others in need.
