Jean Russell
1930-2017
M. Jean Russell, resident at Forest Dale
Home, Riverside-Albert, passed away peacefully Thursday, July
20, 2017 on her 87th birthday at the Moncton City Hospital surrounded
by her loving family.
Born in Hebron, Albert
County, Jean was the daughter of William and Arletta (Walton) Hoar.
Growing up in a family of eleven
children, life on the family farm brought many adventures and fun
times together, but also much hard work. Jean often worked in the hay
fields or in the woods side-by-side with her brothers. This instilled
a strong work ethic which remained a part of her character throughout
her life. Whether Jean was playing
gospel hymns on the pump organ for family sing-songs, playing guitar
and singing country & western songs or attending blue grass
festivals, music always brought her great joy.
Being resourceful and creative, her
talents were many, but she was certainly well known for her delicious
“home cooking” which was generously shared with her family,
friends and the community in which she lived. When Jean and Joe
retired from light-keeping on Whitehead Island and Quaco Light, she
was never happier to be “back home” and closer to her
family. Jean was a loving “Mom” and “Nana” who
cherished every moment spent with her children and
grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by
her daughters, Dawne McLean (Roger) of Shepody, Connie Sarchfield
(Darrel) of Boundary Creek, Bonna Bouchie of Upper Coverdale; her
sons, Sterling Wright (Dawn) of Cornwall, PE and Scott Wright (Rhonda)
of Riverside-Albert; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Bradley
(Stephanie), Andrew (Keshia), William (Nickie), Alicia, Katelyn and
great grand-daughter Abigael; sisters, Della Dowe and Marilyn Wortman;
brothers, Donnie (Mabel), Sterling (Velma), Reginald (Dorothy), George
(Vivian) and Everett (Mary); step-daughters, Debbie Stewart (Jamie),
Dawn Bennett (Bill); step-sons, Jack Russell and Jeff Russell
(Angela); as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, Jean was
predeceased by husband, Joe Russell (2013), sister, Verna Moore;
brothers Gerald and Frank Hoar, and the father of her children, Carl
Wright (1994).
The family extends their
appreciation and thanks to the home-care workers, extra mural nurses
and friends at Caledonia Place, Hillsborough as well as to the staff
and care attendants at Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough and Forest Dale
Home, Riverside-Albert. Also, a heart-felt thanks to Aunt Velma who
was Mom’s special friend and whose care and attention always
brought a smile to Mom’s face.
Visitation will be held at
the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30 from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 3:00pm. Reception to
follow service. Interment in Hopewell Cemetery. In Jean’s
memory, donations to Forest Dale Home Foundation, Hopewell Cemetery or
to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
