Jean Leona Desrochers, 96 of Berwick passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016 in Grand View Manor, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (MacDow) Hughes.
She began her early life in Port Williams, where she met and married her first husband, Murray MacDow. They had two daughters and remained in Port Williams until she moved to Dartmouth, NS and then after a number of years to Edgemere Senior Complex.
Over the years, she made many friends and lead a very active life. In 2007, she moved back to New Ross to the Charing Cross Manor, where she had many wonderful friends; she loved her life in New Ross.
Mom’s happiest times were spent with her family and friends, she was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She always provided a positive and loving influence on everyone she knew. Mom, you were deeply loved by many and will be sadly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her daughters Donna (Alden Keddy) Skerry of New Ross, NS; Patti (Chris) Grigg of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Kevin (Krista) of Lower Sackville, NS; Melanie Skerry of Lower Sackville, NS; Ryan (Jen) Grigg of Halifax, NS; Kristi (Kevin) Panter of Edmonton, AB; great grandchildren Trinity and Ryland Skerry of Lower Sackville, NS; Rylee, Tegan and Cameron Panter of Edmonton, AB; sister Beatrice Larder of New Ross and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband Murray MacDow of Port Williams, NS; second husband Gaberial Desrocher of Dartmouth, NS; bothers Donald; Conrad; Ralph; James; sisters Francis and Iona.
A special thanks to the wonderful loving and caring staff at the Grand View Manor, Berwick for looking after mom for her last four years, it was her home.
Mom, you were an “Inspiration” to everone who knew and loved you. You will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace, Mom. Love daughters, Donna and Patti forever.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, New Ross Chapel, 4935 Hwy 12 New Ross (902-689-2961). Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at a chosen date. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations, in loving memory of Jean, may be made to the New Ross Fire Dept or Christ Church New Ross.
