Jean Isabell Elizabeth Thompson
1926-2017
The death of Jean Thompson of Saint John, beloved wife of the
late Elmer R. Thompson occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the
Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on December 15, 1926 in
Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Florence
(Cairns) Speight.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Betty Thompson, Cathy
Thompson and Judy Thompson, all of Saint John; grandchildren, David
Thompson (Danielle) of Quispamsis, Stephen Thompson of Rothesay and
Christa Thompson of Sydney, NS; great-grandson, Henrick Thompson;
daughter-in-law, Monica Thompson of Rothesay and sister-in-law, Evelyn
Speight of Saint John. Besides her parents and husband, she
was also predeceased by her sons, Dr. S. Elmer “Tom”
Thompson and Maurice R. “Larry” Thompson; sister,
Marion Taylor and brother, Raymond Speight.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes,there will be no
visitation or funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to
attend a graveside service, which will be held at Maces Bay Cemetery
on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are
under the care and direction of Brenan’s
Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John
(634-7424).
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SJRH
Palliative Care Unit c/o of the SJRH Foundation or to a charity of the
donor’s choice.
