It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jean Agnes (McPhee-Astephen) Gagnon which occurred at the Loch Lomond Village on Thursday Aug 31, 2017. Born 1925 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Annie (Bernard) McPhee. Jean worked for St. Vincent’s School and the Drydock as a cook for many years and she also worked at the Kwik Pik. Jean enjoyed bingo, playing cards, cooking,crafts and walking on the beach collecting shells.
She is survived by husband Sylvio Gagnon of Saint John, her sons Paul Astephen (Yang Yang) of China, George Astephen, and daughter Adele Kelly of Saint John, brothers Larry McPhee (Pat) of Saint John, Wally McPhee (Shirley) of Saint John, Johnny McPhee of Vancouver; grandchildren Corey Kelly (Shannon), Robin Kelly, Jonathan Boudreau, Lynaya Astephen, Sara Astephen, Cathy Astephen and Jeannie Astephen; great-grandchildren Katie Jean, Emily, Milo and Sloan; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her son David Astephen, brothers Eddie, Dan, Jimmy, Mike, Francis; sisters Flossie, Mary, Irene, Anna, Doris, Trudy, and Jackie.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Sunday, September 3rd 2017 between 6-9 PM. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, September 4th , 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.
