Obituary for Janice Glatz
JANICE GAYLE GLATZ Janice Gayle Glatz (née Noble on February 20, 1943), mom, grandma, and friend, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Janice was born and raised in Winnipeg, and spent her adult life in the city raising her kids and working as an executive assistant for TD Bank and as a legal secretary for local law firms. Janice loved her family and her cats, had a lifelong passion for music, enjoyed bus trips to destinations and events around the province, and was happy to be a listening ear and support to her friends. She also enjoyed supporting and volunteering for her churches, the Bell Tower Community Cafe, the Good Neighbours Active Living Centre, and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Janice was a prolific cookie baker, baking over 10,000 cookies in a decade. Her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, “Dad’s” cookies, pumpkin cookies, peanut butter cookies, and Christmas shortbread cookies were family staples for many years, and in later years showed up in gift tins and care packages and at church functions and bake sales. Janice is survived by her three sons, Greg (Brenda), Gord (Veronica) and George (Debbie), and her grandchildren, Gregory, Natasha, Garrison and Gillian. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Marguerite Noble, and her sister Jean Lowe. A service to celebrate Janice’s life and honour her memory will take place on Friday, July 7, at 3:00 p.m. at North Kildonan United Church at 174 Pentland St.
