Passed away on Friday November 3, 2017 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.
Beloved husband of Johanna (Ann) for 57 years.
Loving Father to Sylvia, John (Natalie), Richard (Lori) and Raymond. Proud Opa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Olivia, Sam, Rachel, and Christian. Also survived by his brother in Law Alex Perk and his children Glenn, Donna and Edward. Predeceased by his sister Nellie Perk (2005). Also survived by Peter and Janny Maljaars in Ontario. Jan will be missed by his sister Henny and Brothers Willem (Riny), Herman (Riet) and Ome Toon, brother in law Joop van Zeventer as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews all in the Netherlands.
Jan was born in the Netherlands and immigrated with his wife Johanna and daughter Sylvia to Canada in 1964.
Jan was a carpenter all his life and enjoyed boat modeling, puzzles and drives in the country. He was also a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church. Family and friends will be received at the Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. Pastor Riccardo officiating.
The van Schaik family thanks all the emergency personal, doctors and nurses at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital and personel at the Memory Gardens For all the Help and support at the this difficult time.
