Obituary of James Wong
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Kam Chiu Wong on December 4, 2016. James leaves behind his beloved wife Susan, cherished son Martin and his dear friend Emily, mother Theresa Wai King Wong, brothers Joseph, John, Jude, Paul and Wilfred, sisters Margaret and Martha, brothers-in-law Franco and Dave, sisters-in-law Silvana, Franca and Claudia, and extended family and close friends. James was pre-deceased by his father Martin Man Tim Wong.
James was born in Hong Kong on July 30, 1955, and moved to Toronto in 1967. James, Susan, and Martin moved to Waterloo in 1998, where James worked as a Professor of Communication Studies and Philosophy at Wilfrid Laurier University.
James lived life to the fullest. His passions included running, walking, the soccer team Arsenal, good coffee, and long conversations. James touched many lives, and we are forever grateful to everyone who reached out to us these past few years. Family and friends meant a great deal to him. Living for today and enjoying every moment became even more important. Many thanks for the good wishes, encouragement, thoughts, vibes, and qi.
A service for family and close friends will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11a.m. A celebration of life will be held in the new year.
Condolences for the family and in lieu of flowers, James invites you to donate to a charity of your choice. One of James’ favourites was the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. This may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
