October 26, 1932 – January 20, 2017
Surrounded by his family, Jim passed away peacefully on January 20, 2017. Loving husband of Theresa of 58 years. Father of Geraldine (Martin), Sheila (Joe), June and Andrea. Grandfather to Sean, Bill, Amanda, Ryan, Russell, Richard and Eion. Great Grandfather to Chase, Mason, Evan and Nolan. He was predeceased by his brother Albert and sister Ruth. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Recipient of the Hockey Heritage Award, inducted into the Halton Hills Sports Museum, the Queen’s jubilee medal, honorary life member of the Kinsmen club of Georgetown and the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship. He was an organizer for minor hockey, commissioner of the Kinsmen Girl’s softball league, worked with the Georgetown Junior “C” Raiders and was president of the industrial softball league. Organizing Saturday afternoon movies and calling Bingo at the Legion were among the many volunteer hours he invested in the community. Recognized by the Red Cross as a life long blood donor and a tree commemorating his community involvement is at the Georgetown Fairgrounds.

Family and Friends will be received at J.S. Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown, on Friday January 27th from 6-9 pm. The family would like to extend an invitation to join them in a celebration of life to be held on Saturday January 28th at The Club at North Halton, 363 Maple Avenue, Georgetown from 1-4 pm.
Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to Jumpstart, Cystic Fibrosis or a charity of your choice.
