Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Jim Gibson at the age of 90. Jim died at home in the arms of his beloved wife of 63 years, Louise Gibson.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Janet (Greg) Small; grandchildren, Katheryn (Channing) Plaza, David (Kate) Small and Richard Small; sisters, Virginia (Richard) McCullough and Peggy (Alec) Letts.
He was predeceased by his son, John Gibson and twin brother, Gordon (Margaret) Gibson.
Jim, fondly known as Papa, was a family man at his very core. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally and without limits – they were the very centre of his world. He also passionately enjoyed farming, camping, golf, fishing and following the highs and lows of the Edmonton Oilers. His boisterous laugh, witty sense of humour and joyful presence will be missed most. We know that Papa is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father, whom he had a daily morning devotion to and a deep love for.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Funeral Liturgy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street.
In lieu of tributes, donations may be made to support Brain Cancer Research through the Canadian Cancer Society.
