Clements, James Clarke, of Mount Forest died at the Louise Marshall
Hospital in Mount Forest on Sunday, the 29th. October, 2017 in his
90th year. Jim was the dearly loved husband of 66 years to Mary (nee
Whitlaw). Loving father (Pop) to Jimmy and Nan, Durham; Shaun and
Antoinette, Airdrie; Kevin and Donna, Fort Erie; Blair and Diana,
Parry Sound; and Mary Anne Kadar, Cambridge. He will be dearly missed
by his eleven grandchildren, Rebecca, Mairia, Caitlin, Kellie, Amber,
Erica, Emma, Annie, Gemma, Alysha and Tommy. Dear Pops to his five
great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Riley, Everitt, Andrew and Laila. Jim
was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and a
nephew in Northern Ireland. Also by his grandson James Clements and
by his daughter-in-law Vicky Clements. Jim was born in Belfast,
Northern Ireland and came to Canada in 1953 with his wife and baby son
where he put down roots. He loved this country from the moment he set
foot on its soil. Jim was a long-time employee of the Galt Brass
Company in the position of electrical technician before he took early
retirement in 1988. Next to his family’s well being he was
happiest in his garden, tending to his vegetables and fruit trees and
walking his four-legged buddy, Charlie. After living on Highman Ave.
for fifty years he and Mary moved to a retirement complex in Mount
Forest in 2015. Respecting Jim’s wishes there will be no
visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. The family
will gather at a later date to plant a tree in his memory. “See
you in Dingly Cooch, Pop!” No flowers requested, but donations
may be sent to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation in Mount Forest
in his memory.
Arrangements entrusted to Corbett Funeral Home, Cambridge,
519-740-0660.
The Measure of a Man
Not, “How did he die?” but “How did he
live?”
Not, “What did he gain?” but “What did he
give?”
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not “What was his station?” but, “had he a
heart?”
And “How did he play his God-given Part?”
Was he ever ready with a good word of cheer,
To bring a smile, to banish a tear?
Not, “What was his church?” nor “What was his
creed?”
But “Had he befriended those really in need?”
Not “What did the sketch in the newspaper say?”
But “How many were sorry, when he passed away?
