James Brian Swan
1953-2017
James “Brian” Swan – 64, Truro. Loving
son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Tuesday, November 21,
2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after suffering
complications due to intestinal surgery. Born in Windsor, Ontario,
Brian was the eldest son of the late Basil and Delena (Geldart)
Swan.
He will be forever missed by his entire family and is
survived by his brothers, David (Cathy), Robert (Kathleen), Gordon
(Cathy); sister, Cindy (Eugene MacDonald); aunt, Joan Geldart; uncles,
Paul Swan, Vaughn Geldart; nieces and nephews, Shawn, Amie, Jessica,
Gavin, David, Christopher, Emily, Aaron, Kayla; ten great nieces and
nephews and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.
Although born in Windsor, Ontario, Brian grew up in
Chateauguay, Quebec, graduated from Dawson CEGEP and attended
Concordia University (Commerce Faculty), before moving to Calgary in
1976 where he worked for the next 22 years as a Landman for Norcen
Energy Resources, until taking early retirement in 1998. Upon
retirement, Brian moved to Nova Scotia to be near his parents in
Truro, brother (Halifax), sister (Westville) and extended family in
Colchester County. He spent the balance of his retirement living in
Truro. Brian was an enthusiastic athlete, being a top track and field
athlete in high school (Howard S Billings – Chateauguay) and an avid
cyclist and hiker while living in Alberta. He was also a keen artist
(water colours and ink) and prolific reader.
On Brian’s behalf, his family would like to thank
all of those who provided comfort and support during his last weeks at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care and attention to
him during his final days. A special thank you to Dr. Selehi for your
professionalism and compassion and nurses on
2nd floor (E-Wing and Palliative Care Unit).
Private interment will be held at a later date. If so desired,
donations in Brian’s memory to Palliative Care Unit
(Colchester East Hants Health Centre) are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
