James Austin – 2017

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, on March 1st, 2017. Jim was born on February 3rd, 1943 and at the time of his passing he had just celebrated his 74th birthday. He left behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Janice; his children, Tamara Anton (Walter), Steven (Amanda) Austin, and Scott (Dawn) Austin; his beloved and adored grandchildren, Austin Anton, Jenna and Jaylyn Austin, and Izabel and Kassidy Austin; his sisters, Jane and Doug Needrum and Karen and Bill Rae; his sisters-in-law, Audrey (Fred) Amman and Ethel Reuer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James and Alice Austin.
Jimmy lived almost his entire life in Hilda. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Janice Joyce Reuer, on March 28th, 1964, they moved around southern Saskatchewan for a couple of years with Patterson Grain and eventually ended up back in Hilda in 1967 running the Patterson elevators for 37 years as a grain buyer. He loved to farm and used what vacation he had from his job to do the farm work. Jimmy also loved to hunt and fish. He had a passion for building and flying RC model airplanes. He enjoyed flying with the MH club and became an instructor. He was so talented that he was invited to fly his planes in the Lethbridge air show. Jimmy loved reading, playing cards and electronic chess. He loved hockey and played for years recreationally. He also played ball with the Hilda Cubs and the old-timers. Jimmy will be truly missed.
