Obituary for Jakob Goetz
Mr. Jakob Goetz of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Jakob was born on October 7, 1931 at Besserabia (Romania). Jakob immigrated to Canada in 1951, where he spent many years in Calgary, Alberta as a contractor, building basements and doing carpentry work. He met his wife, Hilde and they married in 1958, and had two children. They semi-retired to a farm west of Bowden, Alberta for twenty-eight years. Jakob and Hilde loved those years farming and then they retired to Red Deer, Alberta in 2007, where they could be closer to family and friends. Jakob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty eight years, Hilde; his daughter, Rita (Dean) Loewen and his son, Mike (Christine) Goetz. He had a special place in his heart for all of his grandchildren; Tyler, Jenelle, Alexis, and Brittany. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Arnold and his sisters, Emma (Frank) Knoch and Wally Kimmel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Jakob was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Olwen Goetz and brother-in-law, Lloyd Kimmel. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Jakob’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca.
