Ivy Friesen (nee Hiebert), age 61, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at DeSalaberry District Health Centre, St. Pierre, MB.
Ivy leaves to her memory her husband Mervin Friesen of Niverville: four daughters and their families — Holly Dibra (Jadon, Ty) of Niverville; Sherah and Ian Nurse (Maxwell, Allan) of Niverville; Kaylee and Gabe Demas Klassen of Steinbach; and Jannah and Mike Morrison of Keewatin, along with family and friends.
1956-born in Morden Manitoba to Henry & Annie Hiebert, the youngest of three girls
1974-graduated from Morden Collegiate with honours in Math and English
1977-Married Mervin Friesen on August 27. They just celebrated their 40th anniversary with an Open House put on by their daughters and Fran Giesbrecht.
1978-graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Education
1979-to present- the family resides in Niverville. Ivy loved raising her family here, being part of the community events her daughters were in and then her grandkids. She was looking forward to arena life watching Ty, Max, and Jillian.
January 1979 hired by Hanover School Division where she taught for 28 years (grades 4-9). She loved her last years in grade 5!
They loved camping and water activities at Longbow lake, Kenora, where they have spent the last twenty summers.
Motorcycle trips to Lake Superior in summer and Arkansas at Spring Break were always enjoyable. They took a number of hot holidays and cruises with friends and often alone.
2016 Ovarian Cancer diagnosis which developed into a diagnosis of brain cancer in May 2017.
Ivy was so grateful for 60 years, 40 years of marriage, family, friends, and the BEST career ever BUT most of all her faith! Her faith was tested and she had no idea how strong it was until now. She relished the home visits and experienced the peace that passed all understanding as a result of the prayers of HIS faithful.
She knew GOD would heal either here on earth or heaven, and she is now made whole in heaven.
The family is grateful to Cancer Care Manitoba, Dr. Maini Burnett, friends, and a supportive community.
In lieu of flowers please give a donation to Niverville Youth for Christ to honour of our amazing youth.
The funeral service for Ivy will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Niverville Community Church, Niverville, MB.
