TURK, Ivan
March 28, 1930 – January 18, 2017
Ivan passed away at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 86 years after a brief illness. Ivan was born in Žimarice, Slovenia and immigrated to Canada in 1957, arriving with little more than the clothes on his back. He called Calgary his home for the rest of his life where he successfully operated a construction business with his beloved wife of 54 years, Maria. He was well known for being an astute businessman, as well as diligent and hard working. He enjoyed travelling to Slovenia, spending time with family, and singing Slovene folk songs and playing bocce with friends at the Slovenian Canadian Club of Calgary. He is survived by his children, John (Vesna), Mary (Ronald) and Dora (Wayne), and beloved grandchildren Samantha, Ryan, Cameron, Jean-Luc, Brianna, Kara, Angela and Jakob. He will be lovingly remembered by all of us and remain forever in our hearts.
A Service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Canadian Martyrs Church (835 Northmount Drive NW) with reception to follow.
