Ida Arlt – 2017

Ida Arlt was born to Gustav and Julianna Wentland on May 17, 1922 at Herbert SK, the fifth of six children. She died at Cypress Regional Hospital on March 11, 2017. Ida attended school, worked in her dad’s meat shop and managed Canada Packers in Herbert before her marriage to Herman Arlt on October 31, 1943. They lived and farmed at Leinan, Waldeck, Rush Lake and Herbert. They retired to Swift Current in 1976. Herman passed away July 30, 2000. Ida is survived by daughters, Myrna (George) Coates, Ruby (Dennis) Laing, Pearl (George) Anderson, daughter-in-law, Jessie (Cliff) Dueck, grandchildren, Heather Dunn, Bryce Coates, Cameron Laing, Candace Laing, Lacey Arlt, Tim Arlt, Dana Anderson and Jillian Anderson. She had twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and their son, Bruce. She was also predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Ted and Ernestine Wentland, Katie and Rudolf Yeske, Bernard and Elsie Wentland, Alma and Bill Andreas and Ewald Wentland. Sister-in-law Blanche Wentland lives in Langley BC. Ida lived in Heritage Towers for the past eight years. She enjoyed the sewing group at St. Olaf Lutheran Church for over forty years and considered these ladies her second family. Her funeral was held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, on March 17, 2017. Warren’s Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
