Obituary of Howard Walz
Howard passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the age of 93.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine (nee Gies) in 2001 and daughter Susan Walz in 1962.
Lovingly remembered by his children Fred Walz and wife Maureen, Jane Kochut and husband Steve, and Sandra Stuart and husband Denis. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Richard (Lisa), Susan (Jason), Jennifer, Julie, Dan, Leanne, Cody and great-grandchildren Tanner, Tia, Nicole, Jacob, Adriana, Abby. Survived by his sister Rita Hoy, brother Gord Walz (Verna), and sister-in-law Irene Gies.
Howard was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in Europe. He was also a life member of the K-W Optimist Club since 1979. Howard retired at age 65 from Elmira Machine.
According to Howard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Howard’s life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. David Epp-Stobbe officiating. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
