Herman Thompson – 2017

THOMPSON, Herman Hugh – Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday January 18, 2017 just nine days after celebrating his 80th birthday. Beloved husband of Mildred for 55 years. Dear father of Harry (Karen Van Doorn), Alice Stahlbaum (Larry Sr.), Ivan and Gayle Botelho (John). Cherished Papa of Leanne Fagan (Rob), Larry Stahlbaum Jr. (Heather), Brian Stahlbaum, Brittany Swidrovich (Eric), Veronica Botelho (Jameson Pickard) and Ally Botelho (Nico Pasquale) and great-great Papa of Mason Stahlbaum and Cooper and Kendall Fagan. Herman was the oldest brother to Graham (Connie), Linda Fisher (Laddie), Larry (Jean), Bruce (Sylvia) and Brian (Dianne). Brother-in-law of Evans Miller (Daphne). He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Herman was born on January 9th, 1937 in Gaspe, Quebec. He grew up in Montreal and in 1974 Herman and Mildred along with their children moved to Cambridge. Herman was a Stationary Engineer with the Waterloo Region District School Board for many years. He loved fishing, camping, playing cards and travelling.
Family will receive friends at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge, on Monday January 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock. Cremation will follow. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
