Obituary Overview
Herbert Stanley King
KING, Herbert Stanley
Sept 3, 1942 – Nov 7, 2017
In his 75th year, Stan passed away suddenly on Tuesday
November 7th at Belleville hospital after a courageous battle with ALS. Beloved husband of 53 years to wife Shirley
(Zibresky), Father of Steven (Anne) and Michael (Nancy), beloved grandpa of
Laura, Elizabeth, Andrew, Daniel and Emily, great grandfather of Aidan,
survived by sisters Shirley and Judy.
Born in St Johns Newfoundland, Stan moved to Toronto with his family at
age 6. After losing his sight at the age
of 17 Stan met Shirley at the School for the Blind where he studied to be a
piano technician. Despite the difficulties life presented, Stan thrived on challenge
and lived for adventure skiing and sailing with his family throughout his
prime. For the last 15 years, he and
Shirley wintered in Mexico enjoying life to the fullest. While we are devastated at his passing,
please join us in celebrating the incredible life and fun loving character that
was Stan King. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Burke Funeral Home
(613-968-6968) 150 Church St Belleville, Ontario on Sunday, November 19th, 2017
at 1:00 p.m. Visitation commencing from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A
reception will follow upstairs in the Terrace Lounge. In memory, donations to
the ALS Society of Canada are appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy
