Helena Wietsche Hermina de Kleer (nee Kamphorst)
Helen passed away on March 10th, 2017 in Warkworth, Ontario, with her loving husband, Harold de Kleer by her side. Helen is predeceased by her siblings Herma, Thea, Bert, Corry and Wiesje. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada, the Netherlands and the USA.
Helen was born in Bandung, Indonesia and later grew up in The Netherlands. She became a Kindergarten teacher and met Harold. After coming to Canada, they married in 1960 and settled in Georgetown, Ontario where Helen raised four children while working as an ECE. They moved to Castleton, Ontario in 2000 and she enjoyed retired life in the country while pursuing her love of nature, gardening and cooking. Helen was a talented and creative woman as demonstrated by the beautiful handmade sweaters, socks, mittens, hats and even the odd animal or doll, which she shared with family. In addition, at the age of 72 years, she decided to become an author as she wrote a small book which outlined some of the memorable stories of her life. After battling cancer for several years, she celebrated her 80thbirthday last September with laughter, zest and a new driver’s licence.
Helen was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 pm at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 204 Main St., Brighton, Ontario. Reception to follow. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
