Phyllis “Helen” Marion Riley
Riley, Phyllis “Helen” Marion (nee Sheardown) – Passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19th, 2017 at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich ON, in her 96th year. Predeceased 24 years ago by her loving husband of 42 years Leslie Arthur Riley (Veteran, WWII). Born in Goderich on September 21, 1922 to Elmer Sheardown and Sarah “Sadie” Watson. Predeceased by her siblings Watson (Charlotte) of Goderich, Meta E. (Douglas Matheson) of London, Olive I. (Harry Cook) of Goderich, Yvonne M. (John Campbell) of Bayfield, her sister in law Doris (Charles Adams) of Ottawa and her brother in law William (Elda) Riley of London. Helen is survived by her loving sons Leslie Mark Riley (George) of Toronto and James William Riley of Goderich. Cherished grandmother of Adam James William Riley (Kristelle), great grandmother of Cecilia and Marshall of Redwater, AB. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and good friends. Helen was a Graduate Nurse of The Salvation Army Grace Hospital in Toronto (1947) specializing in OB/GYN and Infant Care. After graduation she worked in Maternity at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. Returning to Goderich, Helen married Les (1951), continued to work at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, eventually devoting all her time to raise her sons. Helen was loved by all for her generosity, strong devotion to family, sensible nature and faith. She was a long-time member of St. George’s Anglican Church in Goderich. Her family is grateful for the kindness, care and support from the staff during her stay at the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich.
