Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Patricia (Pat) Dorsch (nee Kalb). An amazing mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
Pat was recently predeceased by her loving husband, Henry (Hank) Dorsch of Regina; and her son Douglas Dorsch.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Natalie (Don) Fafard of Maple Ridge, BC and Debra (Brian) Dorsch-Poitras of Regina; grandchildren Lauryn and Gabrielle of Maple Ridge, BC and Bailey, CeJay and Brady of Regina; her brother Charles (Doris); and numerous sister and brother-in-law’s, nieces, nephews and of course friends.
Pat, 74, suffered a ruptured aneurysm on November 27, one month after her son’s passing and on her husband’s birthday. She fought bravely with grace but unfortunately on December 5, 2017 her wedding anniversary, she lost her battle and passed away peacefully surrounded by family that loved her dearly.
Pat was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 20, 1943 and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She went on to attend Edison High School and after a term at the University of Hawaii, she returned home to attend Tulsa University, where she met Hank. In 1964, they were married and moved from Tulsa to the great white north so that Hank could play football.
After having three children, while they were still young, she joined the Government of Saskatchewan and worked in various roles in Health for close to 30 years. While working, she still found time to complete her Business Administration Degree, raise the children and attend the various sporting events from football to volleyball, dance recitals and ringette. Pat was an avid golfer. It started when Pat and Hank built the family summer house at White Bear Lake in 1974. She loved to spend time at the lake doing various activities such as sunbathing, waterskiing, painting, needlework and of course, family card and board game days when it rained. Pat loved to cook and bake.
Many a lunch time was spent feeding numerous school kids fried bread dough, fresh buns and bread. At Christmas time, she always made and shared with neighbors, colleagues and friends her famous scuffles and fudge.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Regina and Saskatoon paramedics, the staff in the ICU at Regina General and Royal University Hospitals, Dr. Kelly, Dr. Peeling and Aaron (RN) for their outstanding care and compassion they provided to Pat and family.
A CELEBRATION OF PAT’S WONDERFUL LIFE will occur at a later date in 2018.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Regina Rams Sport Legacy Fund in support of the University of Regina Rams scholarship program, c/o Sask Sport, 1870 Lorne Street, Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 2L7. All donations are tax deductible.
Carpe Diem, don’t wait; you never know what tomorrow will bring so seize the moment today. Always say I love you to your loved ones and live by the golden rule.
