October 18, 1929 – October 24, 2017 (age 88)
With sadness and a sense of peace for a long life well lived, we announce the quiet passing of our mom, Helen Mae (Steeves) Howe at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home at the age of 88. She was born in Saint John, NB on October 18, 1929 to the late William and Florence (Boone) Steeves.
Helen was very devoted to her family, raising her children and making the home warm and loving and inviting. She insisted the family sit down together to have their meals and she was an excellent cook. Her family have many treasured recipes that she left to them. She was a humble woman, who was always supportive of everyone and never pried into their lives, but listened kindly when they wanted to tell her. She was quite funny, with a sharp wit and she loved to hear things that would brighten her day. She loved word puzzles and in her younger years she was quite the swimmer and tube skater. Her family loved her deeply and she will be missed.
She is fondly remembered by her children; George (Linda) Fanjoy, Sherry (Jim) Day, Mary Fawcett, Debbie Fanjoy and Susan (Dave) DeSilva, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, brother Frank, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, Helen was predeceased by her first and second spouses; Charles Fanjoy and Jack Howe, her daughters Peggy Fanjoy-Gould and Marlene Boucher, sister Margaret and brothers Clark, Ken, Erwin and Warren Fanjoy.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Donations made in Helen’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
