Obituary for Helen Ilene Archibald (Stone)
Helen Ilene Archibald – 89, Truro, passed away on Tuesday October 31, 2017. Helen was the daughter of the late Percy and Gertrude (Brenton) Stone. She was born in Athol and grew up in Westchester. She later moved to Truro in the late 40’s where she worked for the Telephone Company. Over the years, she worked for Goodspeeds, operated a B&B and owned a taxi business. Helen is survived by her seven children, Charles Archibald, Stephanie Newell (Charles), Bob Archibald (Louise), Alison Grant (John), Nancy Archibald, Patricia Rafuse, Patrick Archibald (Stephanie). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Patricia and Jenny, Sara, Erin, and Emily, Ryan and Evan, Sam and Hannah and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Erma Card (Gordon), and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her former husband, Foster Archibald, her brothers, Herbert, Hector and Reginald; sister, Hazel. In later years, Helen resided in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro where she would remember the days at the cottage, lobster dinners and family gatherings. We would like to say thank you to the staff of Cedarstone. By request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Private family interment will be held in Westchester Cemetery at a later date. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, IWK or charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
