Helen Gertrude Burke
Helen Gertrude Burke, a long-time resident of Peoples Park
Tower, Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 96. Born in Renous, she was
the youngest daughter of the late Patrick and Clara (Hetherington)
Donovan. Helen attended St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church
for almost seventy years and recently she attended Holy Family Roman
Catholic Church and every Friday at 2:00 pm she would be at The
Peoples Park Tower Chapel for Mass. She loved to sew, read and her
family and friends was her priority. Helen was a member of The Peoples
Park Tower Seniors Club.
Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter, Louise Davidson
(Perley) of Moncton; granddaughters, Trina Young (Ricky) and Amanda
Davidson, both of Moncton and her cherished grandson, Patrick Davidson
of Victoria, BC, who she was so proud of his accomplishments and world
travels; precious great grandchildren, Trinity, Riley, Abigail and
Aiden, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Daniel Burke (1986) and her son, Donald (1984); sisters, Inez
Furlong and Vernice McEvoy and her brother, Howard
Donovan.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the care and
support of the staff at The Peoples Park Tower and a special thank you
to Dr. John Li for his amazing care and compassion shown to Helen and
her family.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A
Service to celebrate and honour Helen’s life will be held at
Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10:00 am with
Rev. Phil Mulligan officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home
Reception Centre following the service.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Prayer and
Commital Service on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 3:00 pm at St.
Bridget’s Cemetery, Renous, with Father Woods
presiding.
In memory of Helen, donations to the St. Bridget’s
Church Cemetery Fund, Renous, NB or a charity of the donor’s
