Helen Elizabeth Stairs – 1926-2017

Helen Elizabeth Stairs
1926-2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Elizabeth Stairs
announces her death which occurred at her home at Prince William, NB,
on January 10, 2017. Helen was a daughter of the late Wilbur and
Bessie (Perkins) Rosborough.
Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife to
her husband John for 52 years. No time seemed to be a bad time to
enjoy a good cup of tea. Helen was a charter member of the Royal
Canadian Legion #27 ladies auxiliary. She liked nothing better than
getting together and working with the ladies as they prepared for
wedding receptions, corn boils, dances, and many other activities at
the Legion.
Helen was graced with a green thumb and loved her flower beds and
garden and making jams and preserves for winter.
Helen’s home was always open to company and you could be sure
that you would soon be sitting down to a delicious home cooked
meal.
She was a great sewer and made many quilts. She could be counted on
to assist the United Church Women with their quilting bees and
strawberry festivals. Her ready smile and friendly nature made her
popular with customers when she worked at the Betsy Ann Restaurant.
She had a great time getting together with the seniors club in the
Prince William Hall.
Helen is survived by her children, Cecil Stairs (Virginia), Mazerolle
Settlement, NB, Danny Stairs, Prince William, NB, Juanita Stairs,
Ottawa, ON; a granddaughter, Laura Lee Brown (Dean), Mazerolle
Settlement, NB; a great grandson, Aaron Brown; a brother, Harry
Rosborough, Harvey Station, NB; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John
Stairs; a son, Philip Stairs; two sisters, Una Rosborough and Isabell
Embleton and her husband, Norman; a sister-in-law, Eileen Rosborough;
several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in the Stairs family.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis
Drive, Nackawic, NB on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will
be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2 pm from the funeral home
chapel with Rev. Greg Williams, United Church Clergy officiating. A
reception will follow in the funeral home dining room. Interment will
be later at Otis Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the ladies of Harvey Outreach for their
years of care and conversation. She looked forward to their daily
chats.

has suggested the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Living Waters
United Church (Riverside and Lake George)in Prince William.
