Helen Sandra DePiero
January 1, 1921 – March 14, 2017
Mrs. Helen DePiero, at the age of 96 years, passed away peacefully in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
“Noni” as she was known to her loved ones, was born January 1, 1921 at home in Westfort and resided there during her growing up years. Helen married a Westfort Boy, Rudy, in September 1941 and dedicated her life to taking care of family. In 1950, she and Rudy bought 3 acres in Vickers Heights and built their family home where they raised Pat, Richard and Debby.
Noni loved to have a vegetable garden to work in the early years, along with her flowers. She kept an immaculate home, did many pictures with cross stitch and every year would make beautiful Ukrainian Easter Eggs for her family and friends.
Helen was a 50 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ortona Legion, and former member of the Kam Boat Club.
Helen is survived by her daughter Pat (Cash) Podlewski and son Richard (Dale) DePiero; grandchildren John Podlewski (Courtney), Jodi Podlewski (Shawn Randall) and Jenna Macsemchuk (Allen), Kim Mesto (Ernie) & Jeff DePiero (Cindy). Noni was also great grandmother to Alexis, Natasha, Joshua, Adrienne, Courtney, Julia, Stefan, Noah, Madilin, Brek, Brock and Chase.
She was predeceased by her parents Anastasia and Dymitro Hluchaniuk; husband Rudy; daughter Debby; sisters Rose and Anne and brother Bill as well as members of the DePiero family.
A service for the late Mrs. Helen DePiero will be held in the spring time. Details will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Helen to any charity benefiting children would be greatly appreciated.
