Obituary of Harry Brien
Brien, Harry Lynn – of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 4, 2017, age 88. Born on December 28, 1928 to parents the late Frederick Scane Brien and Verna Alice nee Spencer. Beloved husband to Lucy Ann (Fansher) for 63 years. Loving father of daughter Jane Hall and husband Tim and son Richard Brien and wife Karen. Grandfather of Daryl Hall, Dylan Hall, Claire Brien, Hannah Brien and Andrew Brien. Brother-in-law of Mary Louise Stuart. Will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased also by sister Ruth (Glenn) Stephens and brother Ralph (Francis) Brien.
Harry graduated from Queen’s Univeristy in 1952 after studying electrical engineering. He worked for 34 years for Atlas Steels Welland and Tracy, Quebec. Once retired, he enjoyed farming in the Ridgetown area. Harry was an avid pilot of small aircraft for 30 years commuting between Ridgetown and work in Welland, as well as an active member of the Ontario Flying Farmers. He was a dedicated member in the United Church in Welland and the Erie St. United Church in Ridgetown. He also was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown.
Family times were very important to Harry and will be remembered by his loving family.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown on Friday September 8, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. The Memorial Service will follow a private family burial in the Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday September 9 at 1:30pm at the Erie St. United Church, 7 Erie St. North, Ridgetown.
