SEARS, Harold Edwin, O.N.
At Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on November 2, 2017.
Loving husband of Nannette (Nan) for 64 years. Remembered with love by his children Martha, Laura Meneok (Paul), David and Janet McDonough (Robb). Proud Papa of Rachael Harvie (Adam West), Sarah Jane Harvie (Michael Bergevin), McKenzie McDonough. Sadly missed by his niece Annie Brown. “Honorary Grampa” of Hazel and Harriet. Predeceased by his siblings Ray, Ted, Larry and June Brown.
Following his discharge from the RCAF, Harold graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 as a Civil Engineer and began his career with the Burlington Public Utilities. Harold was a charter member of the Burlington-Lakeshore Rotary Club and served as president. He received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. A faithful member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Burlington for over 60 years, Harold was involved with the cemetery committee, as well as the restoration of the cemetery stones and church foundation. He received the Order of Niagara in 2004 and continued to be active in the Burlington Historical Society.
The family would like to thank Dr. Adam Grzeslo for his care and compassion shown to both Harold and his family.
Visitation will be held at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME-BURLINGTON CHAPEL (2241 New Street at Drury Lane 905-637-5233) on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 4 pm to 7pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church (2464 Dundas Street, Burlington) on Wednesday November 8 at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Matthew’s House or the Salvation Army.
