Hanna Handojo
1950-2017
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Hanna
Handojo who died at home on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017. Born in
Salatiga, Indonesia she was the daughter of the late Jahja and Debora
(Andriani) Handojo.
She began her ministry in 1967 at Cuenca, Philippines where
she ministered faithfully for 15 years. She was the first Indonesian
woman missionary to the nations through Overseas Missionary Fellowship
(OMF). Evangelist Hanna Handojo later wrote a book about her
experience titled “Assignment, Cuenca: Letters fron the
Frontline”, documenting the amazing story of her ministry
along with her best friend Rhoda Inch. In 1992 she was called
specifically by the Lord to minister in New Brunswick, Canada. There
she served the Lord wholeheartedly to the Maliseet of the Oromocto
First Nation for the next 25 years before she passed
away.
Hanna is survived by her siblings, Philips Handojo (Arita
Nataniel), Titus Handojo (Elly Lengkong), Djohan Handojo (Betty
Purnama), Lukas Handojo (Enny Delia, and Jusak Handojo (Debby
Sumampouw); one sister, Lydia Handojo (Herry KHO). The family would
like to express a special thank you to the Dr. Haines and Dr. Gowen as
well as the staff of the Oromocto and Fredericton Extramural Programs.
They would also like to thank her health care giver Sharon Adams and
special friend Corinne Calabrese.
She was predeceased by her parents and special friend Rhoda
Inch.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday
September 8th, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be
held in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 9th,
2017 at 10:30 AM. Rev. Verner Drost will officiate. Interment will be
in the New Jerusalem Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes
may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online
