On January 17, 2017, Halina (Helen A.) Arar of Edmonton was called home to be with the Lord after 58 years. Halina is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Ivan; children, Antonio (Mary) Arar and Ivanka (Stefanos) Anastasiadis; three grandchildren, Stefanos Jr., Yulia, and Avianna; mother, Maria Zajko; siblings, Anna Kovac and family; and Joe (Lois) Zajko; as well as numerous family members and friends. Predeceased by two infant sisters, Maria and Zina; father, Jozef Zajko; uncle, Alexander Zajko; and niece, Sonya A. Castro.
Mom showed amazing courage and strength through her four year battle with lung cancer and never once gave up. She said “Be happy and stay positive, you’ll live longer”. She personally wants to thank everyone who helped her and her family, especially the last month of homecare. She wanted the world to know that being a Grandma was the greatest gift.
A personal thank you to Dr. C. Butts from the Cross Cancer Institute, the amazing staff from homecare, and to all that showed their support.
