Guy Joseph Ernest Leopold Giroux – 2017

Guy Joseph Ernest Leopold
February 2, 1945 – January 8, 2017
After a battle with cancer, Guy Giroux passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at the age of 71. Guy was born in Lachute, Quebec. He attended university in Ottawa, and while living there he met Pauline and they married August 1, 1970. Guy always had a positive attitude, and when asked how he was doing, his reply was “every day is a good day”. He was so kindhearted and would help anybody and everybody. Guy was a sports fanatic, and there really wasn’t a sport that he didn’t watch. He had a love for baseball (always the Blue Jays) and hockey where he would transfer his loyalty between the Habs, Maple Leafs and the Flames.
Guy was predeceased by his wife Pauline on May 14, 1996. He will forever loved and remembered by his daughter Catherine (Graham) Boisvert; grandchildren Jessica Cross and Justin Boisvert; sister Lise (Andre) Arvisais and their children Guylaine (Pierre), Marc-Andre (Sandra) and Roch (Julie); brother-in-law Chris Nicholl and his children Lauren (Andreas) and Andrew; as well as extended family members.
A Celebration of Guy’s Life will be held at Legends (960 Westridge Road, Strathmore) on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm with tributes starting at 3:00 pm. To celebrate Guy’s love of sports, you are encouraged to wear a jersey or hat of your favourite team.
