DAY, Gretchen H. – It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Gretchen Hamilton Day following a brave battle with cancer. Gretchen passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at the Mountainview Residence in Georgetown, with her loving children at her side. A charismatic woman in her 69th year, Gretchen was a beloved and proud mother to Amaranth (husband Jason) and Trevor, and an adoring grandmother to Scarlett, Isabella and Olivia. She is survived by her brother Paul (wife Ruth) and was pre-deceased by her husband John and her parents Alice and Aubrey (Gray). Gretchen was a passionate and vibrant woman, who was known for her quick witted charm and eccentric style. She will be dearly missed by her art, music and education communities, as well as all those who were blessed to have called her a dear friend. She will be remembered by all for her kind heart and contagious smile. A visitation will be held at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home on Friday, January 20th from 6-9 pm. A celebration of life service will then be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church in Glen Williams on Saturday, January 21st at 11am, with a reception to follow at the St. George on Main St. S. in Georgetown. Donations can be made in Gretchen’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
