Life Story for Grant Morton
Grant Elwood Morton was born on February 28, 1940 to Joe and Margaret Morton. Grant grew up on the family farm in Loon Lake and later on in Whelan. When he finished school he worked for several years in various bush camps.
Grant married Donalda McDowell on July 6, 1964 in Dryden, ON. In 1965 after their son, Rodney, was born they returned to Whelan. They spent the next 40 years together, growing their ranch from very small beginnings. After Donalda’s passing in 2005, Grant and Rodney continued working and growing the ranch together. Grant loved people and had a diversity of friends. From their local community, to the distant hunters who shared their home during hunting seasons, to their cabin community at Ministikwan Lake; he enjoyed sharing a coffee and stories with everyone. His life was a mixture of hard work, a loving family, and beautiful friends. So many blessings!
Grant is predeceased by: his father, Joe (1971); his mother, Margaret (2007); his sisters, Janice Morton and Gayle Tallen; his brother, Alvin (2003); and his beloved wife, Donalda (2005).
His memory will live on in the lives of his son, Rodney; his siblings, Stanley (Marilyn), Tom (Georgina), Ken (Linda), and Debbie (Norman) Prosser; his sister-in-law, Lois Morton; his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, in-laws, and all of his beautiful friends.
